TSA PreCheck for Children

If you have TSA PreCheck, not everyone in your reservation will be able to use the TSA PreCheck line. To avoid unexpected situations, it is important to know how to use this benefit when traveling with children. Children 12 years old and younger accompanying an adult who has TSA PreCheck on their boarding pass can use the TSA PreCheck lane. How does it work

For children under 13 traveling with an adult who has TSA PreCheck, they do not need to apply for TSA PreCheck separately. Children 12 years of age and younger accompanying an adult who has TSA PreCheck on their boarding pass may use the TSA PreCheck line without restriction. Children 13 and older who do not have TSA PreCheck on their boarding pass must go through the standard security checkpoint. However, children ages 13-17 may join adults enrolled in TSA PreCheck when traveling in the same reservation and if the TSA PreCheck indicator appears on the child’s boarding pass.

How to request it

To apply for TSA PreCheck for minors, the process is the same as for adults. Parents or legal guardians may request TSA PreCheck for their children under the age of 18. Children under 13 must be present at the time of application and must have the necessary documentation, such as a birth certificate or passport. Children between the ages of 13 and 17 may apply for TSA PreCheck on their own or with the assistance of a parent or legal guardian.
